Community Guidelines
This is the entire list. Every comment removal or account action on Reddit Jail falls under one of these five reasons, not a subjective read of "the vibe of the sub," and not a rule that changes depending on who's asking.
Spam
Repetitive, unsolicited, or automated content, including vote manipulation.
Harassment
Targeted abuse, threats, or sustained pile-ons directed at a specific person.
Hate
Content attacking people based on protected characteristics like race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
Illegal content
Anything unlawful to host, including content that sexualizes minors, which is reported directly to the relevant authorities.
Other
Anything else that clearly undermines the ability of people to have a real conversation here.
How enforcement works
Any user can report a comment for one of the reasons above. A moderator reviews the report and either dismisses it or takes action: removing the comment, and if warranted, suspending the account. Both the comment's author and, on request, the reporter can see the stated reason for the decision. We don't remove content silently and we don't shadowban: if your comment is gone, you'll know it's gone and why.
What this isn't
We don't remove content because it's unpopular, because it criticizes Reddit Jail itself, or because a moderator personally disagrees with an opinion expressed in it. Disagreement isn't one of the five reasons above, so it isn't grounds for removal.
Account-level enforcement
Repeated or severe violations can lead to a suspension. Suspensions can be temporary or permanent depending on severity, and unlike a classic shadowban, you'll be told your account is suspended and why. Attempting to evade a suspension by creating a new account is itself a violation.
Appeals
If you think a moderation action was a mistake, email hello@redditjail.com with your handle and what happened. A human reads every appeal we get.
